About Me
Welcome to my practice! Iām Dr. Janelle Clark, a Clinical Psychologist based in the Eastern Sierra region of California. I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Saybrook University, complemented by an MS in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University and a BS in Psychology from Westmont College. My professional journey encompasses a broad spectrum, from community mental health and crisis assessments in emergency settings to outpatient care at the Family Medicine Clinic at Mammoth Hospital.
Professional Affiliations
I am actively involved with the American Psychological Association, Society for Humanistic Psychology (APA-Division 32), The International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis (US Chapter), and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. These affiliations help me stay informed about the latest developments in psychological care and therapy approaches.
Psychotherapy
In our sessions, I aim to create a supportive environment that encourages you to safely explore your thoughts and feelings, embark on your recovery journey, and honor your unique path. This setting is grounded in a person-centered approach, emphasizing a deep understanding of your personal experiences and needs.
To effectively support your journey, I employ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to enhance your psychological flexibility, helping you to embrace your thoughts and feelings rather than avoid them. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist you in identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, providing practical tools for achieving your personal goals. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful therapy particularly beneficial for addressing trauma and aiding recovery.
These methods are integrated with other evidence-based practices to develop a personalized treatment plan, tailored specifically to meet your unique challenges and aspirations.
Recovery-Oriented Approach
Central to my therapeutic practice is a recovery-oriented approach. This approach empowers you to regain control over your life and enhances your resilience and well-being. It emphasizes collaborative relationships and integrates clinical support with community and wellness resources, helping you build a meaningful and fulfilling life.
